Towerbank Parent Council

WhatsApp Communities

To help strengthen communication across the school and make it easier for families to stay informed, the Towerbank Parent Council has set up a WhatsApp Community. This will allow parents and carers to receive key updates directly from the Parent Council and to connect with the relevant groups for their child’s class.

The community is optional, completely free, and open to all Towerbank parents and carers.

TPC Community

What it is

A WhatsApp Community that brings together the parent/carer groups for every class in the school. Each class has its own group for everyday reminders, class-specific information, and general parent-to-parent communication.

What you can access

  • Your Child’s Class Group – A space for parents/carers to share reminders, ask practical questions, and support each other.
  • School-wide Announcement Channel – Used by the Parent Council and class reps to share wider information relevant to all families (e.g. school events, deadlines, community updates).
  • Optional Groups – The Parent Council has a range of groups which manage different volunteering projects throughout the school year (disco helpers groups, lost property group etc). Parents can choose whether to join these if they’re interested in getting involved.

How it works

  • When you join the Community, you can see other class group(s) to join — useful if you have children in more than one year or your child moves classes.
  • Only admins can post in the announcement channel, keeping whole-school updates streamlined.
  • Class groups themselves allow normal conversation unless moderators need to step in.
  • You can leave or re-join the Community and individual groups at any time.

Privacy and Safety

  • You can leave any group or the whole Community at any time.
  • Your phone number is only visible to other parents/carers in the specific class group(s) you join, not to everyone in the school.
  • All groups are moderated by volunteer class reps and Parent Council admins, and we ask everyone to follow our simple community rules:
  1. Be respectful
  2. Keep discussions relevant to school matters
  3. No advertising or fundraising unless approved
  4. No sharing photos or videos of children without consent

How to Join

We will send out the joining links for the Community via the newsletter. We don’t want to post them publicly to keep them private amongst parents/carers.

Why We Use WhatsApp Communities

  • It’s familiar and easy to use for most parents
  • It keeps communication tidy — announcement channels avoid information overload
  • It helps build connection across the school community
  • It gives everyone an equal opportunity to stay informed and get involved
